My major complaint with the D2 is lack of tactile control without employing the touch screen. That can be really inconvenient if I want to switch to the next track while riding a bike or fastforward a few seconds in a track with the player in the case. Other than that the D2 is by far the best mp3 player I ever owned. It would be awesome to have a wired remote like the one offered for the x5, especially so since this player lacks manual controls. I wonder if Cowon will make one. Does anyone know if the X5 remote was an add on or if it came out at the same time as the x5 was offered.

i had the same thought. i remote would be great, especially for exercising. it's hard to guess where the next button is without looking.

You can set it so holding down the menu key advances to the next track.
Personally I don't understand why players always seem to have have dedicated volume keys, but not forward/back ones, the zen v is the same, I'm more likely to want to skip tracks easily than change the volume easily.

this would be agreat idea as i was in the dentist charit today giving my D2 a ride and as she was giving me comments - to mover here and there - i found myself dumbly pushing all parts of the screen to pause. finally i just turned the vol low...which i hate to do in the chair!
Remote would be good - would have to be usb though

What a cool idea. I have a great one on my sony CD player that I have had for about 5 years - It had an LCD screen on - which I think would be vital If a remote materialises for the d2 - A small colour screen would be even better so you can navigate all the menus.
But how would a remote work - wouldnt you need a port on the device?
/\ yes a port like a mini usb....
so if that works, it would be cool
sorry for diggin out this old thread. but, does anybody already know if a remote control for the d2 is in planning? the usb-port is there so we just need the interface ;-)
i dont need necessarily a screen on the remote, just the most essential buttons like fw - rew - volume up/down - stop/pause - play, as i am always running my music in shuffle mode or listening a whole album. a screen would be nice although but its not essential imho.
