Does the D2 have gapless playback? I looked at the specs on Cowon's website but didn't see anything. Does any Cowon product have this? Also, is there any limit to what size of memory card can be put into the player? Thanks!

No Cowon product is gapless but the D2 is very quick since it uses flash.

The largest SD card that will work (now) is 4GB.

Is the gapless playback something that could be done with a firmware update?

When the track that you're listening to ends, the next track in the playlist begins to play. Most players have a tiny gap of time between when a track ends and when the next track begins. But, some players and software make it a point to eliminate this "gap" between the tracks.

It is a big issue for me because I listen to a lot of mixed music, and gaps kill it completely.

I hope the gaps on the D2 are VERY short.

Gapless is the last big feature Cowon needs. It really is a mystery why they don't implement this. Obviously the hardware can handle it (Rockbox has proved this) and I doubt the programmers don't know how.

Does Rockbox on the X5 make it have gapless? I wonder if rockbox will do anything for the D2 and if so how long will it take before it is released?

Rockbox does indeed give the X5 gapless. It's a shame that Cowon haven't implemented it on this but I won't mind too much if (sorry, when) I pick one of these up as I'll still be using my X5 around the house.

C'mon Cowon, although you've done incredibly well with this player, give us gapless! It can't be that hard, surely?

Ever listened to a live recording, its so annoying when the claps finish then pause and the claps start again

We want gapless, we want gapless[yes]

Doesn't even have to be live. A lot of albums' tracks run into each other.
