So when you watch videos on the D2, it doesn't sound as good as music? I hope the EQ settings work on videos so I can add bass and treble to them.

That's exactly i want to post here. I just registered for asking the same question. I really want to cry for it since i trusted Cowon so much since 4-5 years ago when i first purchased the very old 128 M CW200.

What's going on here? The earphone is not even as good as a very normal Sony. I think i might have to go back to my original CW200 earphone which really delighted me and built my loyaty to this company. But now...[no]

I wish i could return it... the player is pretty cool though...

I don't know what you mean, but the D2 simple is the best MP3 player with the best sound yet on the market. I work in a big eletronica shop called Media Markt where i have the D2, 6 and the X5(L). I have listen to them all but all have the same excellent sound quality.

Sorry for my poor english :p

The sound depends on your earphones or headphones. Less bass doesn't mean worse sound. In most cases less bass means better sound, because a balanced sound is better than a sound with too much bass.

I think the D2 gives a very balanced sound, esp. in combination with good earphones (like the V-Moda Vibes or better). Watch out for earphones like Sennheiser CX300 and Sony EX71, they don't give a balanced sound out of any mp3 player, so avoid these. They are way to bassy for my taste (and the taste of everyone who likes pure music)

By the way: I really hope Ajax will lose this weekend, so Twente will be at the 3rd place ;)

I've had an A2 and X5 then switched to only flash drive players. Honestly, who really needs to lug around their entire collection of music on a heavy 20 to 40 gig player (God I just want to slap those ipods out of peoples hands. Especially the ones who ask me why I don't use one or how much memory I have in my "cheap" no name brand as they call it--this is my rant for the day, sorry. Also, 2 gigs is a lot of music if that's what you only use the player for.).

I first bought the U3 and love/d it. I've used it for over a year now and it's been great. I thought about switching over to the iriver Clix three months ago but didn't, and I'm glad. The new D2 is truly wonderful, the sound is amazing and a grade above the U3. I've yet to find anything wrong.

And now onto the reason for this post to begin with--

When I watch movies on my notebook I use $40 Sennheiser headphones, cause I like the bass. For normal audio listening on my D2 or now-obsolete U3 I favor my shure earphones. They sound freakin amazing and I never have to turn the volume above ten when in a very quiet setting. The stock earphones are ok, but you're missing so much if you don't invest $100 in some good headphones.
