It sounds like you did it correctly. I don't have everything in front of me but the steps I did were:
1. Make sure D2 is off and plug in USB cable
2. Once sync'd with PC, copy d2N.bin to D2
3. Unplug. Pretty sure that it shuts off by itself once unplugged since it was off when I plugged it in.
4. Turn the D2 on and it automatically ran the update.
5. After update, I was left with a white screen. No worries, turn D2 off
6. Plug back into PC and copy other 2 remaining files (D2N_font.bin & D2N_rs.bin) to root of D2 and unplug
7. Turn D2 back on and final update runs automatically
8. Once second update runs, turn it off and back on again.
Hope this helps but if this doesn't work for you, I would recommend contacting Cowon's tech support, unless someone else here experiences the same problem as you and was able to fix it.

I think etivackers may have missed this step. [sad]
does the D2 have ums and mtp (correct me if wrong) usb connections by any chance? if so maybe it needs to be in ums mode.?

To the best of my knowledge using the D2 for less then a week, you don't have a choice. When the device is plugged in, its automatically seen as a UMS. There's no switch on the device to have it read any other way.

the firmware for non-dmb type is different from your dmb type. I just visited korean cowon website, they show the new firmware for dmb type version 1.2
here is the link for download [biggrin]

yes,dmb type and non-dmb type.
all features and looks are the same but only the dmb type-that work only in korea(correct me if im wrong).and it can record the broadcast of the dmb.
so the D2 I bought in the US is not capable of receiving the DMB broadcast if I traveled to Korea with it?

if that is not a dmb type(i mean,if there's no icon of a dmb) then it wouldn't.
