Hey all,
The volume on my Cowon A2 dropped after my first firmware upgrade. It asked me where i was in the world and i said Denmark (or EU) can't remember.
Is it possible to get the volume back to full again?
Thanks
If I might hazzard a guess, did you just upgrade to 1.85? I have read that there are volume problems with that version (which is why I am waiting on a fix before upgrading).
From what I have read, it should be possible to install 1.81 just by downloading it and installing it.
hmm. i think it has to do with a european law or something that happened with a european country. forgot which firmware upgrade it was (one of the last 2 i believe) had volume limitations due to a lawsuit that happened somewhere in europe about no limit and causing deafness or something of that sort. i think most companies had to release firmwares to limit the volume. i think it started off someone suing apple(ipods) about it.
again im not to sure. i thought i read some loud noise about it (no pun intended).
but again, other places said they've noticed some drop regardless where they were due to recent f/w upgrade.

go to there firmware download section, has the changelogs on what was updated. this is what i found when scrolling down.
* Support the maximum sound limit in some European countries when selecting German, French, Spanish, Netherlands and Russian languages.

I hope it's just the firmware. But I will just have to wait and see.

I totally agree with hibell.
If you do not want the volume limitation, just re-install the firmware and select another (non-EU) country.
I think the limitation is only the volume level, and not volume in general, i.e., you cannot go beyond a certain volume level. Nevertheless, up to that level the volume should be the same between countries with limitations and countries without limitations.
If you think the volume is basically less, then this is not the cause.
Good luck,
S.
