Hi All,

I'm trying to find the perfect EQ settings to use with my X5L and Seinhieser PMX200's (http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/products_sennheiser_headphones_portable_pxseries_5 00502).

I know its all about expirmenting untill you find your ideal settings but I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction? I'm looking for a simliar sound I found with the stock firmware, clear but powerful bass, sharp treble, all when playing quite loudly. I listen to a wide variety of music so its gotta fit all types of music really.

Anyone got any good ideas of where to start?

Thanks,

Mithias

P.S. Thanks to Mr Mec for the Themes I'm now using of his and to MaxWen0 for the builds needed to run them [thumbsup]

Sorry but I like the sound as it is without any eq settings [wink]

Here's an old thread that should get you started:

http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10558

And for the heck of it, here are my own current equalizer settings, which provide pretty good bass sound for me. You can paste these in a text file and change the extension to .cfg, then drop it in your "\.rockbox\eqs" folder to use it when browsing EQ presets.

I should warn you though that equalizer settings sound pretty different depending on headphones, so the sound may not be right for you. But still, it's a start! [yes]

eq enabled: on
eq precut: 50
eq band 0 cutoff: 150
eq band 0 q: 9
eq band 0 gain: 80
eq band 1 cutoff: 392
eq band 1 q: 12
eq band 1 gain: -110
eq band 2 cutoff: 807
eq band 2 q: 12
eq band 2 gain: -110
eq band 3 cutoff: 4002
eq band 3 q: 12
eq band 3 gain: -120
eq band 4 cutoff: 12000
eq band 4 q: 9
eq band 4 gain: 0

EDIT: Edited equalizer settings to give you guys my "bass" setting I created a while back, which sounds even better than what I'd been previously using. Enjoy!

Holy Crap is that amazing bass! [excited] It sounds excellent. And I'm not even a hardcore basshead.

Though I have noticed I have to turn the volume up a lot louder now with Rockbox, even though I turned the decibel level to 0. Was Cowon up at 6 db? Is that why it's quieter now at 0?

Dunno - though I know that everytime I've tried tweaking the equalizer settings I always end up needing to turn the volume up with the increased bass. If anyone knows of a way to avoid this, please speak!

Rockbox builds now come with a set of example EQs in /.rockbox/eqs
