...but i thought it was something I did wrong when I first got so after 3 days or so, i formated the a2 and added the lastest firmware update (i believe it was 1.61E at the time) the first thing that would happen is that the videos would freeze just like the first day i got it, but i noticed that the videos wouldnt freeze as much when the volume was at 36 instead of 40. so i would restart the a2 and turn down the volume. and then the videos kept freezing no matter what the volume so i started putting more music on the a2 and deleting some of the videos. my girlfriend at the time tried to play the videos thru the file browser and that seemed to work for a minute but the videos started to freeze in two different ways, one way would be just the screen being stuck on an image and it you hit rewind or fast forward the video would continue like normal and the other way would freeze the screen, give a distorted picture and an irritating sound. i eventually just stuck with audio files until they started to freeze the player. after a reboot, everything seemed to be cool. what happened now is while trying to hook up the a2 to my x360, the screen went blank rather than the tradition usb connected screen, no it wasnt in the hold posistion and it had a full charge (i just finished charging it and i turned it on to change the alarm)...i tried turning it on and it gave me the red x, i tried connecting it to my laptop, and the computer didnt recognize it so i switched usb cables and tried it. nothing. i tried connecting my psp with the same cable in the same port, and it recognized it. i tried another computer and still no avail....i cant hook it up to the computer, i tried the reset button i have tried doing the firmware update sequence because i never deleted the current firmware of the hardware, also no avail. is there anything else that anyone else knows to do....

note: i wrote this thread like this because of the newbie bashing that i read about earlier. i am an a2 newbie. i have had 2 rios, 2 creatives, one sony dap and another korean pmp that i cant remember the name to right now. out of all of those mp3 players the only one that was broken was my riot (rio). thank you

i think it's a problem with your videos files. please tell us what type of files they were or which codec you used to encode the files. i think u should reinstall thefirmware. what is the position of the tab(lcd or AV OUT or HOLD) when you are connecting to PC or whatever.

when i hook it up to the computer for non charging purposes, it is never in the tv out or hold posistions, always lcd. i dont know the specific codec used but the vast majority of my files are .mpg files, there are some avi files transcoded from jetaudio (coincidently they ALWAYS FROZE within the first 10 to 15 seconds) but the vast majority of the files (all music videos so your talking 4 to 5 minutes tops) had the .mpg ending.

side thing, i cant get into the player at all, i cant reinstall the firmware...

expectafight: Unfortunately, MPEG1 (.mpg) files are not always supported on the A2.
Although it can often read them, there are some definitive stability problems.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your A2.
You should try to convert your files to DivX/XviD instead, I'm sure they will work just fine.
(there's a zillion threads about video conversion on this forum already).
The other thing to keep in mind: GMC and QPEL are not supported!
