hi, help me:

i went to play a file on my iaudio X5 and it freaked out a little then froze. i dont really mind, its wonderful 93.87 percent of the time.

but holding the power button up doesnt do anything. even for half a minute. and its still frozen, the hour glass has been spinning for a good 3 hours now.

when i press the powerbutton down to lock, the little lock shows up on the screen...but no other buttons do anything.

do i just have to wait till the battery is dead? i wish i hadnt charged it last night....its gonna be like, days before i can use it again...good battery life is a double edged sword...

is there a way to cut power without hurting it or using a screwdriver?

thanks so much...

Press the reset button. You need a pin to do this.

moral of the story: the harder you look for something, the less likely are you are to find it.

hey , i have the same problem. But it still freezing when i switch it on.
Even if i reset or if i wait until the battery is dead, the next time i ll turn on the player it ll freeze after the boot screen. The clock cursor turns forever.
i have noticed that the hard drive make a "switch-off noise" just after the player has booted. It sounds like the hard drive is dead and it cannot load any music.
do you have any ideas about this problem? do i need to get a new hard drive?
my guarantee is out of date since a year now :(

That noise is just the hard drive stopping from spinning, it makes that noise even while you're playing music or recording (in fact you can hear it in voice recordings @ 6min). I would try to connect the player to the computer and format the hard drive. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to get it serviced. Cowon will probably service it even if you are out of warranty, but for a fee.

Try this... plug the AC adaptor into the X5, press the reset button for a few seconds and let it charge for a few hours.

If the problem persists, you might want to reformat your hard drive and reload your music and video files.

I had the X5 'hanging' before as well (hour glass rotating forever). I simply connected it to the PC while it was still on and I was then able to turn it off

I'm having the same problem as well, only I'm trying to play an mp3. It seems to be only one folder though. Should I delete that folder and reupload it or will it continue to have this problem if I do?

It would take less time to delete and recreate the folder than it would to wait for a reply from us as to whether you should. :)

Ha! You would like to think that, but my computer can move really slow when it feels like it.

Give your computer a cup of coffee, and try deleting and recreating the folder. :) Do the files play on your PC, and what's the bitrate, etc.? Also, are you using a relatively recent firmware?
