Many of you probably saw the news article posted by eXity about Cowon releasing a new player soon (Well, specifaically it was about his leave of absence but he mentioned it). I know that there are way too many of those "What's after the X5" threads, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if you think that the new player will be the X5 successor, and should I just wait for this player?

I have my doubts. Large HDD DAPs aren't that big in Korea nowadays.

I think it's already been revealed it's an A2-successor.

Most of the weaknesses of the X5 can probably be fixed with firmware, (such as the 10,000 file limit and picture weaknesses.) I think that offering an upgrade to compete with the larger screens of the ipod and creative fits the current market in this country.

I don't think we'll see an X5 replacement (high-capacity, HDD, DAP) unless the market in South Korea changes and starts leaning that way. As of this moment it seems like Cowon is more interested in PMP's and flash memory DAP's. Cowon doesn't have enough of a firm footing in the market so that it can cater to international trends since its strength lies in its domestic market.

I don't plan on buying a new player for years so I'm fine with it. Should the day come when I want a new one and Cowon does have an X5 successor then I will surely consider buying it.

yeah i dont think so either, it seems theyre either going small(flash) or big(pmp) and not in the middle(x5) for me its only up flash->mp3cd->x5-> cowon a3 here i come YOU BETTER HAVE A FULLY FUNCTIONAL SCREEN ON YOUR REMOTES DAMMIT
