View Full Version : Wow, this is weird...blue screen issue

Hey, all...new to the site...

Well, I've only had my x5 since november of last year. Last month I accidentally formatted the hard drive instead of simply deleting all the content (I don't know what I was drinking that day...). Anywho, once that happened I couldn't get things going on my own and I email Cowon, who told me that I had to reinstall the firmware...and they told me to download version: 2.11b1-e. Now, that b makes me think it's a beta version that is likely full of bugs.

Since then, I've gotten my music on it, but now every time I recharge the unit (which seems to take a bit longer), I get stuck on the blue Iaudio screen for about ten minutes until it kicks off. The next time I start it up, it doesn't get stuck on that screen, but only stays on about three times as long as it did when I first got the unit.

Another thing. I ripped my Trews CD onto my computer after the whole uproar and put it on my x5. Every single time that the machine would wind up on one of those songs, it would freeze with the sanddial rotating for about five minutes until a screen saying "Janus Error: (followed by a multitude of numbers). Now, i can get my music going and such, but it's just really annoying that I have to basically 'prep' my mp3 player after charging it (regardless of it being charged through my pc or by the wall adapter). Also, resetting it doesn't help, and at the time I reinstalled the firmware, I did it twice with the same issues.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I don't believe that my hard drive is fried like the other fella's is said to be...I've never dropped the unit. I just wasn't thinking when I hit format device memory on JetAudio.

Thanks.

Chris

it is beta. the difference between 2.11b1 and 2.10 final is the beta supports DRM and uses MTP for the host port when connected to a computer instead of UMS.

that's normal. it builds a database of the playable files on the first boot after disconnecting from a computer. subsequent boots will be much quicker until you reconnect to a computer again.

Alright, that's good news to hear. I appreciate the help 'cause I'm the only person I know with this mp3 player.

My next question is, how do you get the opening video files to run on your x5 again? Where can you download them and where do you install them on the x5?

And does anybody know what software to use to enable video playback on your x5? all I got in the package was Jetaudio and I can't find anything about doing the video bit.

Thanks,

Chris
