Hi,
i get my new X5V a few days ago. And then i read something about Rockbox and i went on the rockbox page and in this forum to get informations about it. I want to know: Where can i get a "perfect" rockbox version for my X5V, with all patches included and so on?
Thanks 4 help!! :)
First of all you will need a bootloader for your x5v. There is one you can get here http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IaudioBoot , but this one only boots rockbox and not the official firmware. I don't know if mkboot (the tool to patch the original firmware to get dual-boot working) works with the x5v firmware as well (RaeNye?). If you have problems creating or finding a dualboot firmware for the x5v, ask again and I'll see what I can do.
Well, about the "perfect" rockbox-version for the x5: rockbox is constantly updated and every new build is just getting better and better. Usually you can find the latest build in this thread: http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10349
Download one of the .zip-files and extract hem into the root of your x5.
That is basically it. Now you can start downloading themes, etc. for your player, to get your "perfect" rockbox. ;)

As usual, I warn you that installing Rockbox voids your warranty; you may want to think twice before installing it.

yeah, think twice first. then think again and go ahead and install it. you'll love it, it gives a whole new dimension to the x5.
mkboot can be used to combine an appropriate bootloader.bin (not the one on RB wiki - that one is not a dual-bootloader) with a X5V firmware.
Linus might know what's the difference between x5v and x5 bootloaders (except the header).
thank you, RaeNye. Was that enough information to get you started, Hefftome?
