PAL Recording lock up after only minutes

HI,

Upgraded firmware to 1.81 usual way.

For the first time experiencing A2 freezes when recording in PAL 640x480 1000bps + stereo. It occurs after ~ 2minutes of recording. The screen still shows the moving video image however the recording time indicator is frozen. Only way to get the machine back is to hold off button for 9 seconds.
Note I have never applied beta updates.
Noticed also during update that it did not reset the A2 back to default settings; it kept all my preferences. I did check and the system had correctly updated to 1.81.
I have just taken the version back to 1.77 and is recording fine once again with same settings.
Just wondering if anyone else notices this.

I have had this problem ever since v1.59. I still haven't got round to trying v1.81 yet (still on 1.80).

Try formatting the A2 (FAT32) before installing 1.81, and see if the problem goes away. It works for most people, except those that have the problem with every version of the firmware, like me!

Thank you - sorry to hear of your trouble - I would just return the player and get it replaced.
I'll give the format a try - sounds a bit drastic just for an update - wonder if they include that in the new 1.81 upgrade notes. cheers

i have the same problem.. recording has always been fine, but now it freezes completely and doesn't save the recording at all - i have to hit the reset button. REALLY frustrating! might try downgrading the firmware..

i have the save problem and i posted it.some guy said format it and reinstall.
i did that and it worked fine for some time but the problem came back.
the problem is with 1.77. i don`t know 1.81 is ok or not.i will do it and tell the result.
