My M5 seems to be crashing alot.

I have the lastest 2.11 firmware but when it play it seems to just freeze up its really annoying as there is no battery I can just pull off the only thing I can do is hit the reset and not having a pin this makes it difficult.

It seems to freeze up on different files I wonder if there are ogg files that are the problem. Has anyone had problems like this with any types of files.

I guess I will have to experiment with converting ogg to mp3. I haven't had this player long and the one reason I got it is 1. You don't need software to upload and 2. It plays more formats that others and in particular ogg files which I seemed to amased quite a lot of.

Let me know anyone[help]

Thanks
Simon

This sounds slightly familiar. Didn't have it too often though, and I use Ogg-files a lot too (it's one of the reasons I bought this player, after finding out how terrible iRiver is at making players and at repairing them when necessary).

One thing the player really didn't like is when I turned it off somewhere at the end of a long ogg-file and then tried to resume. It might be that it got confused a little bit when the estimated track length turned out to be off a little bit. Oh well, I don't know...

What I do know is that it usually doesn't really crash, it just hangs for a minute. Sucky for sure, but it didn't happen very often at all so I can live with it.

I read somewhere that ogg files require more processing.... maybe it is todo with big files or how you encoded them.. i can't really say as i don't have the player yet, hoping for it to arrive tommorow.. but aside from finding out exactly when it happens and reporting it as a bug what else can you do? unless there's an older firmware which performs better but its usually best to have the latest... COWON don't seem to say what each firmware update does... or maybe i don't have the privalege to see until i have registered my own player. Anyway hope these crashes are an unusual thing rather than a bug.

Its obviously not ogg now as I removed them all and I am now using wma for all new files. It still keeps crashing probably twice a day. Really annoying, I am considering getting a new mp3 player and selling it off to somone one. I am really annoyed as I spent out on a nice case for it and the remote control. But as good as the sound quality is it useless if it continously crashes for no reason.

Any one else getting this problem?
